Privacy Policy

What we need

The National Homebrew Club of Ireland will be what’s known as the ‘Controller’ of the  personal data you provide to us for the purposes of running the club and it’s associated forums. We only collect basic personal data about you which does not include any special types of information or location based information.

We may collect the following information when you use our website:

  • Username
  • Email Address
  • Date of Birth
  • IP Address
  • Other data collected that could directly or indirectly identify you.
Why we need it

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping including service optimization, website stats.
  • We may use the information to improve our products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.  
What we do with it

All the personal data we process is hosted and maintained on servers located within the European Union. No 3rd parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so.

We have a Data Protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data.

Third parties

The NHC doesn’t share member data with third parties. Specific events, such a competitions, may have their own privacy policy that covers any member data shared with third parties as an opt in only.

How long we keep it

Data will be retained for the following amount of time

  • Membership data provided via the signup Google Form will be retained for no more than 6 months after initial submission
  • Data contained within the forum will be retained until the point of account closure where it will be hard deleted within 30 days
  • Other data for time specific occasions, such as competitions and events etc, will be retained for no more than 30 days past the end of the event
Communicating with you.

We may contact you directly such as necessary to deliver transactional or website related communications.

We may also contact you with offers for additional services we think you’ll find valuable if you give us consent, or where allowed based upon legitimate interests.

You may also update your subscription preferences with respect to receiving communications from us and/or our partners by signing into your account and visiting your Profile/Account Settings/Notifications page.

What are your rights?

If at any point you believe the information we process on you is incorrect you request to see this information and even have it corrected or deleted. If you wish to raise a complaint on how we have handled your personal data, you can contact our Data Protection Admins who will investigate the matter.

If you are not satisfied with our response or believe we are processing your personal data not in accordance with the law you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

There is a mechanism built into the site to support Data Subject Requests, or DSRs, to allow you to do the following:

  • Export Data
    • This will allow an export of all posts and user profile
    • It is available at Profile/Modify Profile/Export Data
  • Delete your account
    • This will remove records of you from the forum database including IP addresses, email addresses etc.
    • It is available at Profile/Actions/Delete this account
