We were talking about this at the last meeting and probably should have do something before now about it. Anybody with any excess specialty grains / hops looking to trade bring them along and in sure find a good home for them. Might be a bit late now for this months meet up but I reckon we should look into this for meetings going forward.
could also bring some of the more common hops and grains if you have newbie kit brewers and get them started on hacking the kits.
I have just finished insulating my boiler with a reflective wrap Aldi had on special a few weeks back and have about 2.5 - 3 meters left over if anyone wants it.
Can you post a picture of your boiler?

Hi Will
Was wondering if there are any of those hops left? If so any chance I could get one off you?
Shanna
I'm sure I will Jacob and Shanna
Will let you know whats what before Staurday.
The north side ones can be picked at at the Boro at our next meet.
Put me down for one as well Will_D
So here's a photo from the nursery!
The new ones are now planted up against the wood they are:
L to R: Cascade, Magnum, Saazer
In the pots are LtoR:
4 Hallertau Mittlefruh, 2 Northern Brewer, 5 Tettnager
I also have a few more taken from cuttings that I am waiting to see about. ( 2 Tett, 2 Nbrewer )
So I think every body can have 1 off each or less!
I will start a list:
Please indicate what varieties you want:
Mittlefruh is Flavour/Aroma and typical AA is 3 - 5 %
N Brewer is Bittering and typical AA is 9 - 12%
Tettnanger is Aroma/Bitter/Flavour ad is typically 3 - 5% AA

QuoteI'll take the left hand one and give you the vials in exchange!
No problem, almost forgot about the vials :-/
That's what we like to see. I should have some old but good for bittering hops to bring along to the next meet if anyone wants them. Questionably for late hope but good for bitering. will update when i go through them all.
I have a can of Brupacks Light LME to swap along with some yeast I mentioned before (Liquid Lager yeast and dry lager yeast). I'll bring on Tuesday if anyone wants...
I could use some 500ml bottles.

How many do you need. I could bring some up..
Wow. Thanks lads. I suppose I'll bring a bag and fit what I can :) I'd prefer bottles where the labels would easily come off (the likes of o'haras) versus Smithicks Pale Ale bottle with the big sticker.
I'll bring in the bits I mentioned and sure if someone wants it...
Hello NCDers. I took a very healthy root cutting from my colossal Fuggles plant a month or so ago, it had a pretty healthy shoot coming out of it which has just recommenced growing after a little shock from being separated from the mothership. I'd say if it goes in the ground now, this plant may even produce a bit this year. I will swap it for a decent bottle of something from our many fine craft offies! I'm posting here first out of love and patriotism for the north county! :D
Any body need some base malt(MO)?
I have extra crushed if anybody need some.
With the next round of group buy malts coming up soon what do you guys think about getting a few specialty malts between us and breaking them down. Say 2.5 - 5kg batches. Might be an idea.
Love it - great idea !

Did a big clear out of all by bottles tonight and have a fair few to spare is anyone wants any. Have a big box with mostly O'Hara's , paulaner and a few green flip tops. Anyone wants any let me know or they go to recycling.
I'd take the flip tops no problem. I have plenty of normal bottles. My cousin might need some though. I can ask him
Sorry for the late reply, my cousin has enough bottles and you've probably dumped them by now anyway..Haha!
Have just racked my Belgian tripel into secondary so have some lovely fresh WLP 500. If anyone would like some brought along on Sunday give me a shout. Really is a great yeast.

Ok I'm completely new to this lark but I've just ordered my equipment. First I'm gonna make a small batch of cider to use up the last of my homegrow apples, however the place I ordered my stuff from was out of Campden tablets. Seeing as I only need one or two anyway, is there anyone that could give me a few?! I'm located in Skerries!
Campden tablets dosage depends on your juice ph, but usually it's 3 tablets per gallon.

Welcome to the group.
We will be holding our next meetup at the Old Boro in Swords at 7pm Jan 14th and you are more than welcome.
You don't need to bring any beers/ciders but if you have some then a couple of bottles will do nicely.
Keep your eyes on the about to be written "Next Meeting Jan 14th" thread.
Re: Campden tablets: There is the Health Food shop in the pavillions that has a small HB section - they should have them or Tescos may still have HB stuff.

Can you see how much yeast is in the vial? You should be able to make a starter with it anyway.
Gonna advertise here first and first performance goes to NCB. Im looking to swap 1 Corny keg for 5 12x500ml cases + bottles.

Then you need the services of "Turbo Cider Man".
Get thee to Lidl or Aldi or Tesco. Purchase as much apple juice as you want to (€1 a litre or less), get a bag of raisins, a few tea bags. When home search for Turbo Cider on this very forum and away you go!
I like the way you think Will! Thanks!
Maybe a long shot, does anyone have spare bottles? Or advice on where to go to get em free or which commercial bottles are best to reuse?
Empty Coke bottles will be fine for Turbo Cider, the stuff is iss and usually drunk within a couple of months so no issues in gas permeation that you need to be worried about.
haha sorry should have said this was unrelated to cider! Meant bottles for beer!

US-05.. lovely. My most used yeast. I'll take one too if possible.
I'm building a new boiler at the moment so will have a 35L boiler looking for a new home in a few weeks.
A bottle or 2 of your finest will do.
What sort of boiler setup you have? Just using a converted fermenter here, so if it's more stable...
Its a fermenter with 2 argos kettle elements fitted.
1/2 ball valve. Insulated. Has served me well but don't mind passing it on to a good home if someone is looking to get into all grain or even extract.
Someone else should take it so. Perfect for a person graduating up to extract. 2 elements are ftw.
Anyone got some interesting reclaimed yeast? A Belgian Triple yeast or something like that.
I've got plenty of washed WLP300 and Nottingham. I've got a sachet of Saflager s23 I'm not going to use as well.
I have a Belgian finishing up in primary at the moment that used the new dried Belgian abbey yeast. Looks to have dropped super clean as have a thick yeast cake. I'll be racking to 2nd or even straight to keg over the weekend so can save a few tubes of yeast if anyone wants some.

Have about 2-3kg lying around if that's any use to you. Using mostly Weyermann and Castle base malts now.
With the price of malts dropped so much I don't think it's practice or needed to do group buys on base malts any more.
The price of sterling has taken the advantage out of it

€22.23 (with discount,ex delivery) for Minch Lager malt from HBC

Nigel, Never throw them out! I can always store them in the club (and prolly swap out some of my older stronger ones to use as diesel storage for the tractor)
Ah I would have found a home for them. Somewhere. Just seeing if anyone wants them before I fill them with something far too strong that you need 25L of.
In the spirit of the NHC "pass it on when you outgrow it" way of thinking I have a mash tun looking for a few home.
Not sure exactly what capacity it it but its big enough to do 25L batches of whatever you can dream up. I've done brews 10%+ with it so its big enough.
Few bottles of your finest will do.
Sight glass looking for a new home. 11 -12 inch one. Perfect for 30l boiler.
Anybody have an extra 50L keg that they don't want?
Anyone want some hop cuttings? I've got Cascade, Challenger, Fuggles, Hallertau Aroma
Case of flip tops looking for a new home. 1L and 500 ml mix.
Bottle or 2 of your finest will do.

Are these only open only to North County brewers?

They get first refusal but if anyone wants to pick them up they can have them.

I would like the flip tops if still available, I can collect this evening ?
Ok, just bumping this thread.
After talking to people at the last few meets there are a fair few of us doing 2 keg batches. If anyone is looking to swap a keg post here or contact on whatsapp.
