Here is my first brew day video...we brewed an American lager (hbc) and an oatmeal stout...was a great day...tough enough to get 2 done in 1 day but delighted with the outcome

Out of interest did you use the same water for both or did you use treated water?
Used ashbreck water from tesco for the lager and filtered tap water for the oatmeal stout

Sorry, asked that before watching the vid.... Have my answer now :)
Where are you living that you needed ashbeck?
That's one full-ass boil ;D

Living in Stamullen....water is awful
Fair nuff
Your text on the video knows something and is intuitive. You said "the Lager is for my wife" and the text said "for my life". :D
Love seeing how others brew
On mash efficiency 65-70% is pretty low most should be 70-75 Herms GF BM Recircs up to 85-90
Look at increasing your water ratio up to 3:1 and or a way to keep that deadspace insulated to avoid temperature drop, nice "cans" btw
Just looking at that hotbreak made me nervous.
No lie, I was coming out in a cold sweat watching it!
The suspense was killing me, edge of your seat stuff, will it boil over or not. Great vid, really enjoyed it
it is good in fairness whats the story with the woody woodpecker grainmill was it running very fast or something?
Yeah a great vid, hope to see more of these from brewers in the future
Thanks everyone...I like vlogging...I setup a website for my brewing adventures www.johnniebongo.com I'm going to put up a blog post and a video everytime I brew...its a great way to learn from mistakes...one thing I found this time was to pre heat the mash tun before adding the strike water...I had been missing my Temps by a couple of degrees but this helped

Think it needs a bit if grease or something...was actually grand after it ran for a minute

Also check the temp of your grain and adjust your strike water, especially with the cold weather now upon us
Before you start down Herms or rims route and you will get there

boiled kettle or bag of ice sorts you out in a hurry
Just watching the level on your kettle coming up the boil, for the stout.
Jeepers!! Scary
You can use commercial anti foam products to keep that to a min, wouldn't be a fan myself. Simpler solution is mister with water, not your starsan one
