have a read off this thread phelix. I'm not sure if it's the same code, but the description seems similar.
You'll pick up an arduino Uno for about €20 or a clone for about €10.
To see if your STC is reprogrammable, check the power source connectors and if they're right next to each other then you're good. Ones with a gap of about 5 or 6 mm won't work.

It's not that hard to do. The hardest bit is soldering the header.

Read through the threads - pay attention to which version of STC you get. There are now three versions and only one is flashable (the ones in my photos) Good luck and keep us posted!

Why would you need to flash the STC? I thought the reason they were favoured was because they did the job out of the box?

to give them extra profiles, so that they increase of decrease temperature automatically.
For example:
2 weeks at 12C, 2 days at 16C, decrease by a degree per day until at 2C and hold for the remainding time.
