Done my first BIAB today.Got the temp down to 68°C for the mash but it rose to 70°C after 5-10mins and remained there about 40mins.Had it wrapped in a duvet(think I'll not bother next time.At least I learned something)...will this do it any harm being at 70°C for so long?

Also, when draining the boiler to the fermenter should I pour everything out or leave the 1-2litres below the tap level that contains the debris?

you might have more body and sweetness from the higher mash but it'll be fine.
When transferring to the FV I generally stop when I start sucking break and either dump that last couple of liters or pour it into a jug to settle and separate (usually getting an extra liter of wort out). Even if you simply pour the whole lot into your FV you won't have problems so long as the finishing trub is below the tap or you syphon to secondary

Not too bad then...cheers Eoin.

I ended up with 13litres after starting out on 26.5...I strained the grain in a sieve a couple of scoops at a time after mashing then boiled for an hour. Not sure why I was left with so little wort.Had to be the grain I'm guessing but I strained that as much as I possibly could.Supposedly should have ended up with 21-23litres.Was a stout that I done.Got an OG of 1070.Might top it up with water next time if I get the same result.Know that'll lower the OG/alcohol but I'd rather have a bit more beer than 13litres.Tasted a sample and it was very nice.Looking forward to trying it..all 13litres :)
