I'm going to dry hop my kegged IPA for Xmas and have citra, cascade and simcoe at my disposal, any advice on how much to use, I do like big hoppy ales for the record, it's the HBC Pale ale I'm doing

Cheers

50-60g would be enough for a decent hoppy keg of IPA. Any combinat of those 3 hops would be great too. I'd recommend du hopping for 7 days,  if possible do it the week before serving.

Qs

I like to go about 60-70g for pale ales and about 100g for IPAs.

Pellets or leaf?

Gugs44

All leaf,

sorry I should have stated that...hop bag weighed down with marbles and some light fishing line out the lid of the keg once it doesnt cause a leak

Perfect   :)

These look ok to use? Citra 2012 harvest and expiry next February...I've had them frozen a few months, they smell perfectly fine but the colour has gone from a nice fresh green to slightly withered looking...using them to dry hop

irish_goat

Do they smell ok when you rub them between your fingers?

Qs

If they're kind of brown they might give a cheesy flavour, or just no flavour. If they still smell really strong they'll probably still give your beer the aroma you want.

Gugs44

They smelled perfect when rubbed and I added them to warm water just to taste and all seemed ok, just added 20g of them with 20g simcoe and 30g of cascade...I added loads of marbles to the hop bag but still stayed afloat so hopefully that'll still give the aroma/flavour I'm looking for, I sealed it back up and let it on 5psi, is that ok???
