No problem dcalnan.

Anyone else?

I don't suppose anyone has a spare 500g of crystal that I could use for a brew? I forgot to add it to my mash tun parts last week.

johnrm

I'll sort you out.
Pm me mobile no. Etc

Taf

Anyone else brew with these yet, and if so, what do you think? I know oblivious did, as saw something on twitter, but not sure what he though of them. I tapped a keg yesterday, and while it's not fully carbed yet, it's a nice fruity drop of beer. Not sure they are worth how much we paid for them though.

Crystal is the malt of the devil!  >:D Wouldn't touch it myself!

I dont know, a bit of Crystal in a porter or Amber is a lovely flavour in my mind...
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

Oh definitely for darker beers, I meant for pale ales/IPA's, but didn't make that clear.

dcalnan

In that case what would you recommend?  I have biscuit, Munich and aromatic malt. Got them for a Belgian I have to get around to. I'm going for a English ipa with the jester, it's extract so I'm only using the grains for steeping.

Taf

Crystal would be fairly traditional for an English IPA, so don't mind me, and go with it. Think you would get some character steeping it, but not sure about the other malts.

johnrm

No PM yet.
What part of the world are you in DC? I get the train these days from Midleton to cork.

I stuck an American Pale Ale on with 50g of Jester hops in it. They smelt decent enough going in anyway.  :)
