I'm currently living in Belfast so thought I'd contribute a bit to the thread.

Here is my set up. Recently got a thermopot from powellbrewing. Great piece of kit!

Anyway I brewed an Irish red ale on Saturday which is actually way darker than it should be so its probably more of a brown ale.

I used WLP 004 which had gone out of date so it has taken 4 days to get going but finally I'm seeing a bit of airlock action

Looking good, Will.

Looks like you've the same digital thermometer as me. One of the best things I've bought. Quick and accurate and doesn't break when you lean on it or drop it like the numerous glass ones I've owned.

Very cool looking bit of kit. So is the thermopot a mash tun? Looked at the website and it didn't say there was an element in there

Nice set up!

Have you used the WLP004 before? Always been meaning to get some in for a stout but have a load of dried yeast to use first.

No element Kevin. It is essentially a SS mashtun with a false bottom. On Saturday it lost approx 0.5 degrees in 1 hour.

I'm a sucker for shiney and was going to buy a cooler anyway so thought to hell with it.

I'll dig out some photos

Right I need to move my fermenter to bottle this up.

up to now I've literally picked it up and shifted it but I'm suddenly wary of the airlock being sucked back in.

I'm curious how others move their fermenter about without introducing too much O2

beerfly

i just move it gently and slowly,  once you are not splashing it around you will be ok

I use a silicon tube to transfer to my bottling bucket/secondary without moving the primary fermenter at all.
I also use vodka in the airlock so it wont cause an infection if it accidentally gets sucked in.

If you have to move the fermenter for bottling just remove the airlock before you pick it up, a tiny bit of oxygen getting in through the airlock hole wont make any difference if the beers going straight into bottles
