Capital Brewers potential co-location with TOG

Hey folks

The possibilities of co-location are great, but how things work out will depend on whatever space we get our hands on!

Tog are looking for a warehouse type facility in the city centre; we're currently looking up places (eg on daft), talking to landlords and viewing the locations.
Nothing much has happened yet, tho we have a 2 month timeframe.

If anyone else can help with this process, such as by suggesting places we could look at, or wants to come view with us it would be great!

PS - tog do their own version of member group buys.

Shiny gave the example of getting a welder -- between tog and brewers we could make getting one capable of welding stainless steel a possibility.
We'll have to work on ways to coordinate on making stuff like this happen!

Yeah I was talking to Christian about the merits of being able to weld stainless steel in the space and the implications of being able to have stainless steel pots, taps etc....

Would love to get in on this if the ship hasn't sailed.

I still have that boiler there its its still of any use.

Shane Phelan

Don't worry dude, the ship doesn't sail on this one! We will be continuously adding members and as we get more useful equipment more people will want to join up. Nothing has been decided yet as we cant really plan that much until we know what we have to work with in the new location.

Would I be right in thinking this won't be close to getting off the ground til the end of march?

Shane Phelan

April probably as there is no point doing anything until TOG have moved to the new location. When that happens we will know what sort of space we have to work with.

I'm probably putting the chicken before the egg here but this might be a decent setup for minimizing the space we would take up brewing. With a few Welders as mentioned above, we could even make a more elaborate version of the below example, plenty of talk of using induction hobs on  Whatsapp Capital Brewers chat this week. - could reduce our energy and physical footprint on the premises

Just an Idea anyway, thought I'd post it while it was on my mind

Hey all

We've been looking at properties, and this to me is the standout one:

We hope to put in an offer to take half the building (aka 1 floor) asap ...
But we'd need a partner organisation that could take the other floor (as we can only afford half the rent)

a) what do you guys think of the place?
b) do you know of any potential partner orgs to take half?

Vermelho

That looks great. Do they have anyone else looking at it to take the top floor?

jules

Well we are going to ask our neighbours (Modern Green, an on street marketing company) if they would like to go in with us and take the bottom floor, we'd take the top.

The Dublin Food Coop are also interested, meeting them on Tuesday.

If you know any other similar sized groups (who could afford the €1500 monthly rent) that we could contact please let us know!

That looks like an amazing facility! Great location too

The Kernel started out in an arch like this. It had a cellar like atmosphere that was perfect for storing ingredients and product. Not ideal for us but be a nice one for an irish micro. https://www.flickr.com/photos/83234344@N07/sets/72157651062887831/

blackpitts one looks massive... will we able to boil inside it though? there's a pic of a big A/C unit or would it be an extractor? https://www.flickr.com/photos/83234344@N07/15882732144/in/set-72157650359736138

DEMPSEY

Railway arches might be a good place for brewing Belgium's ;)

Hi just an update -- Tog got a 6 month extension so the pressure is off a bit.

There is a place on Mountjoy square that you guys might be interested in seeing anyway?

Also: tog is having a social event this saturday - come along for some wood fired pizza, home brewed beer and all sorts of other stuff!
The guys have been asking a lot when the next brewday is :)
