Hi guys , I've just gotten the craft IPA kit . Can't wait to start it. My only issue is that it requires a fermenter with an airlock. I have the coopers fermenter that came with my last kit which has no airlock. Is it handy enough to fit an airlock or will I just buy a new fermenter with airlock built in?
Cheers folks.

armedcor

That coopers fermenter doesn't require an airlock by design. Don't worry you can start that kit it'll be grand.

Barberjitsu

Really ? Great stuff . Cheers armedcor 👍

armedcor

It's the see through coopers fermenter with the removable ring?

LordEoin

yeah, they dont need an airlock, the gas pushes our under the lid.
when i use my coopers fermenter i usually ferment out and then move to a sealed secondary for a while to clear as there's little new gas being produced.
that's probably just paranoia though

Barberjitsu

Yeah it's the clear one with the kreuzen collar. Would moving it to a secondary unit make a difference to the beer ?

LordEoin

i just do it to get less sediment in the bottle or if i know i won't be bottling for a few weeks.
kits clear up pretty quickly though so it's completely optional.
