If someone tells you what the taste is its much easier to taste it!

Not knowing what it is really stretches your taste buds and knowledge of the off flavours
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

LordEoin

That's what i was thinking, but sure those of us who haven't done it before can just wait the minute until it's announced before tasting. then everyone wins. :)

johnrm

Play it by ear.
By number 6 we'll have given up and be swilling Molsons best neat.

I forgot to say goodbye  to some of You. It was really nice to meet You Lads :)

Brilliant night- had a great time and learnt loads.  Big thanks to John and Garry for the work they put into this. Good thing emptying the barrel wasn't the main event!

johnrm

News just in - Lots of barrel gone down the drain already!

Did something go wrong with the barrel brew? Was that the dark lager?

LordEoin

Well, it ticked pretty much all the boxes in our off-flavor sheets!   ;D

Well the training has already come in handy, opened a red wine today and noticed a nail polish smell to it and immediately thought  it must be ethyl acetate.

That's a shame. sounds like it's time for that barrel to be retired to my garden, to live it's life out as a planter or maybe a base for a table in the brew shed.

Garry

I was tidying up last night and found 2 auto-syphons that are not mine. Johnrm owns one. Is anyone else missing an auto-syphon?

Dr Horrible

Garry I brought one in with my container, it must be mine. I'll give you a shout later on about picking it up sometime.
