I gave in and ordered one from ebay, as their site didn't have a link for Ireland. €80 all in and it's meant to come with a proper plug for the UK.

Those flasks cost and arm and a leg though, so going to use one of Ikea's finest big 5 litre jars or something until I spot a 2L one for a decent price.

You get this yet molc?

Yeah it arrived last week. The thing is the shit. Works perfectly and flawlessly. Going to do a starter in a growler with it in a few weeks, so can take a few pics of it in action if you want. Same as the vids on the website though.
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

I have used the mbaw stirplate a bit now.
I can't say that it is flawless, occasionally the stir bar spins off, though generally when the solution is very yeasty.
The flask is fine, I have had no issues going from hot to cold and cold to hot.

Decided to buy one of these badboys. My homemade stirplate was beginning to pee me off, my patience was well tested!

Also ordered one, I just couldn't regulate mine and it seems this will do any size. I was also cautious of fire risk with something that's running overnight on it's unintended voltage. I'm not an electrician so I could be wrong but I'll hopefully be happy with this new one.

Any chance you would post the link?

I'll try to dig it out later. I sent it to vermelho this morning so he might be able to put it up. The store is digitalhomebrew on eBay, in Australia. It's the same link jakob gave earlier in this thread I think though.

So glad you put the word "the" in there  ;D

I priced the parts today on ebay to make one: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MJo3TO5Mpl6rJqn0uY-Yfpr6EXMl-DDRIZMURD1xYuQ/edit?usp=sharing  £37 pounds with shipping, honestly thought it would work out cheaper.  Not sure which to go with now.

molc

Yeah it's a stupidly expensive piece of kit for what it does. You can also get the barebones components from the same company for a little less, but feck it though I :)

For me it's now an investment that will pay itself off after 10-15 brews so hopefully within a year. It also looks like it will last a long time so 80 is worth it for me.

£37 works out at over €50. I think it's worth the extra €30 to get it ready to go and knowing it will work.

Re parts this is what I did

Bought a USB fan. I have enough chargers lying around from old phones
Magnets. Had an old pC hardrive
Box. I have the flask sit on top of carboard which is on top of the fan cover. No issues

Cost me about 15

Any chance of a review of the Digital stir plate guys?

molc

Wish I took pics of it in action last weekend now, but I'm sure I can do something up. It's kind of boring. Put the liquid on the plate, turn it on and it spins. The beauty of this one is that it just works everytime with no fiddling. I have no hesitation in recommending it though.
