I had to take off my tap again yesterday to clean it as it had seized from not using it for a while. And Ive decided I've had enough and need to get forward sealing taps. Where do people get theirs from. I'm thinking of getting two, should I go the Chinese route or america?

Vermelho

I got some Perlicks from america. I think they were the 650ss. They're very nice and the forward seal is a pleasure to use. I was lucky to have one of my mates coming back from the US so shipping was not an issue but it can be hefty if you go this route. I got mine form Kegworks and they offer international shipping rates at checkout.

I got the forward sealing fake peril is from aliexpress. Worked out around €30 ach. They look good but I havet installed them yet so I can. Say how good they work.

Hey Q do you have a name/link for the seller you purchased from? I hear Aliexpress can be hit and miss and that it's good to have a reliable go to seller. I've been close to buying before but heard horror stories

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1017341 Theres the shop I used. I found it grand, they delivered well within the time they gave. Was still a few weeks though.

Nice one! I was thinking of Alibaba, I didn't know about Aliexpress...this is dangerous, my Grainfather savings might dissipate!

I was trying to decide between perlicks and ali perlicks and did some research. I cant remember where I readit but I heard the Ali ones leak, even some of the reviews on the site mentioned this I believe. I decided that is rather spend double on proper stainless steel and have the longevity with the real perlicks. This can save some major headaches down the line.

Are perlicks the best taps? Looking at adding a third tap right now, but want to get something decent, that ideally will pour a good stout. Also want something that can be fully taken apart for servicing.
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

I came across this one on My Beer and Wine, might be worth a look?

That's what I was thinking about-turn Chinese taps, mightier to wait till an uncle is coming home from america.

That aliexpress store seems to have proper stainless perlick knock offs now not just the chrome plated. They also have the exact same one as mybeerandwine.

Actually, I took another look at the taps from CanDirect and I'd say their design is pretty close to Perlicks. It's also got flow control and a creamer function. The only thing missing is being able to slip the bottling attachment up the nozzle, but if you un-thread that, it might also be possible...

One of mine is blocked with hops right now and I've never taken it apart, so will give it a try when I get home and see how it goes:

The perlicks seem to be easy to take apart but I haven't done it yet. As far as best, I don't know, but all the Americans seems happy with them. I looked at all the review on northern brewer, keg connection etc and it seems that these were the most consistent and least likely to fail or get stuck.

The black plastic spout comes off that tap fairly easily. I've two like that and they're good taps. Easy to disassemble and clean too.
