Just wondering if anyone has converted a chest freezer to keep your cornys in and serve from. I'm looking into this but not sure if I should try wire the stc directly into the freezers wiring or just do an out plug , plug it in and program in the compressor delay settings. Option 2 seems easier. Also if you did, what size freezer did you get, I'm looking to hold 4 cornies

I could only fit 2 cronies in this feezer!

I wouldn't bypass the internal thermostat unless you're comfortable with the wiring.
There's no shame in having the normal plug and it'll be hidden in the back anyway.
just tuck the wires in neatly and nobody will notice.

Regarding size, just bring a cornie with you when looking at a freezer.
Remember that you'll also need some space for gas.

Boooo goddesses :)..... I seen a 170l for a good price on adverts . Might sneak into Harvey Norman and fake some interest

I got a chest freezer off adverts for 50, it fits 2 cornies in it, with the gas on the outside. I just have the freezer plugged into a stc1000 and this is attached to the wood collar. It does have problems with dampness and occasional mould, I'm cleaning it up next week and putting in something like this to help counteract it, but I might get this rechargeable one.

Yeah seen a few on adverts alright. I'm not gonna mount taps to it as I have a seperate bar thingy for that, gonna use it like a mini cold room

Did you put the collar on yourself?. I'm gonna put a collar on mine, I'm gonna insulate it too and tek 7 the collar to the freezer. Should fit 4 cornys in then......fingers crossed

Yeah I built the collar from 22x100mm planed timber from the builders supplies. I used the 100mm as it was what I needed for the extra height of the corny's and disconnects. I just used styrofoam insulation as it was cheap, a pain to cut with all the beads going everywhere, and it's all held together with silicone. I'm planning on doing up the keezer soon to make it look a bit nicer and get longer shanks, I built mine in a day and it shows but its the beer that is the most important thing at the end.

I'm not going to fit any taps to it as I have a seperate bar so it's just to increase the height really so I can fit 2 cornys on top of the compressor box
