For ages I have been banging about an "Ingredients Forum" (and other 'logical' changes to the fora structure) and the stock replies were always along the lines of "we've enough forums already"

So what the fek happens today? ???

3 come along together >:D

Yes we need an ingredients forum but we still need the old "yeast bank" forum.

Yes yeast is an ingredient but the bank should be a special place!

So who decided to do this?
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Just like buses then
I think the yeast section IS the yeast bank.

There have been many requests to improve the structure and layout of the forums over the years.
One of the common requests is indeed for ingredients boards. it just makes sense.
now there are dedicated areas for hops, grain(etc), yeast.

The yeast board still has all of the same content it always had when it was called the yeast bank.
Only 1 thread was removed. The rules sticky which had no replies and I've never seen anyone post in the format it dictated.

if you look through the posts on the board it's already used mostly as a general yeast discussion/advice board, occasionally to look for or offer yeast, and rarely to actually accommodate those requests.
I suppose that a yeast bank by nature doesn't work as well at a national level as it does at a regional level.
But the yeast board can still be used for offering and requesting yeast strains and hopefully with a centralized yeast information area it might encourage more people to try their hand at washing, slanting and sharing their yeast instead of sending it all to the septic tank.

At the end of the day though, it can always be renamed back from board to bank. It just won't sit right with the other ingredients boards that are being trialled.

And anyway, What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet  :-*

Qs

Not if you called them stench blossoms.

LordEoin

It would probably smell even sweeter if people were expecting a stench blossom and got a rose :D
