Friends don't let friends drink and help them bottle

The other I got my first chance to bottle a batch of stout. A buddy called round (a few sheets to the wind) and "helped" with the bottling. As I was filling the bottles he'd carry them over to the counter where the capper was. About half way through I realised he was sticking his fingers into some of the full uncapped bottles to carry them  . Feck!!!! (In his defence he's never done any homebrewing). I went ahead and capped them all anyway, having no idea which ones got the finger treatment...

Now this batch was supposed to be for a party the day after a buddy's wedding. If it was just for me I wouldn't be tooooo bothered, I'd just turf out any dodgy ones and try the unlucky dip again! I'd say maybe one in five got fingered (teehee).

So what do ye reckon is the risk of infection/utter ruination? I'm probably just gonna do another batch and keep this one to meself. Better not inflict this on the public....

It's amazing what sitting down and writing something out can do for the decision making process. There's no way I'm going to serve this to my friends, I'll just do another batch.

When's the wedding? Assuming his fingers weren't boggin' I'd say it's probably grand tbh.

Allow them to fully carbonate then pasteurise them.

Wedding's the end of August, hopefully have enough time - was planning on putting on two batches of stout and two batches of red ale so this puts me back a few weeks... Maybe it's a good oppurtunity to expand my fermentation chamber like I've been meaning to so I can do two batches at a time.

Don't know about his hand hygiene - at least the jacks seat wasn't soaked if that's any indication!

How do you go about pasteurising beer??
