Folks, a quick question to see if anyone has had the same experience. I brewed yesterday and when I was cleaning out the kettle I found lots of stringy slim - rubbery almost like gelatin substence. (Unfortunately I didn't take a photo). It's a new kettle and it's the fourth time using it. This stuff didn't appear on the previous 3 brews or with the old kettle. It seemed to cling to the elements. any thoughts?

What were you brewing? Anything unusual in the grain or adjunct selection?

shanek

Nothing unsual on the grist 70 % pale 20% pils a bit of dark crystal /carapils and a bit of rye.  The fining was a whirlfloc tablet at 15min left in the boil.

Below is a link to the kettle, nothing fancy added an additional element:

Just check over all the parts today looking for a possible source. Can't find anything with the exception that the washers are rusted to bits on the threads! Not something you'd exspect on a 'professional' boiler.

Any thoughts welcome.

I've seen gelatin like blobs in the bottom of my kettle from crap that the Irish moss dropped out

Is whirlfloc 1 tablet to 10gallons?

Leann ull

Depending on what you are brewing it can be 30-50% of a tablet. Never a whole one :(
I use one per 60l

Wow I have been over doing it on every batch for the last 2- 3 years. Not sure if that is explains the jelly.
