Fitting PC fan to Kegerator

My kegerator has been icing up and I've been getting inconsistent temps throughout it. After a bit of research it appears a fan to recirculate the air inside is needed. Anyone have experience with this? I could run a small fan in but want to keep it a neat as possible. I could wire a fan into the temp controller and have it turn on when its live but would that be enough?

Would need to be a 220v pc fans but most are 12v.
How would a fan hold up in the humid environment?
All ideas or recommendations welcome.

Yes, a computer fan is 12V so you'll need an adaptor.
Look for an old adaptor froma printer, phone, modem, etc.
charity shops sometimes have boxes of them.

I had a CPU fan running for 3 weeks at 50-65% humidity at 37C for an egg incubator and it was fine with the humidity.

Quick google and I found this.

220v pc fan. Could be wired straight into the main power. My only concern would be the long term running.

LordEoin

that might be a tanning bed fan like http://www.amazon.com/Internal-4-Bed-Fan-220V/dp/B007BPGHZO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1FYJG7FT6GXR2CB343VX

60,000 hours lifespan. call it 40k for good measure and you've 4.5 years.
not sure how it would fare with constant running.

It'll probably be like a tornado in there  ;D

Just the first bit of googling. Tanning bed kegerator you say  8)

if you just wanted to move the air, a PC fan with USB \ mobile phone charger might do it? you'd have to check the specs for the fan as the charger would only give you 5V... but as for the lifespan of the fan, I can't say, most of the specs i checked for fans didn't give operating ranges, just the max temp in some cases.

I just hooked up an old 12v fan to a transformer and mounted it in the fridge. Its not pretty but I'll give it a bash and see how it goes. I'll see how it goes over the next few days and if a difference is noticeable ill fit something more easy on the eye.

Brewpi taught me to always recommend a fan in your fridge or tube heater to recirc air.
I use these transformers and they only come on when fridge on stc does

1A is fine
Then use these

as you can connect onto the fan without butchering the lead

There should never be a need to butcher a lead. Just bring the transformer into maplin and find the right female connector ;)

Rats

I'm running a PC fan constantly for over a year now without any problems.
I drive way to fast to worry about cholesterol

Maplin are good but JC they are they expensive  :( I bought an ABS enclosure or project box off them for €40 and the same box from a uk ebay vendor €15 delivered, I guess its because of the amount of stock they carry.

On the fans I have there are 4 leads, yellow blue red and black, I just connect the red and black to the terminals on those connectors and that pushes straight onto the transformer.

If you use a 220v fan then just wire it in parallel to the compressor!

That way it will move the air around when the comp. is running (maybe 1 hour a day) and will be off the rest of the time

If you have a 12v fan supplied from a transformer then wire that in parallel with the compressor!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

They're expensive alright for most things, but a female connector is generally only a couple of quid at most
My 20inch samsung monitor broke a while back and before dumping it I decided to open it up. It was broken anyway...
Saw 2 capacitors that were domed, wrote down the serial number and brought it into them.
The guy looked at me and said " Samsung flatscreen TV on the blink?" and giggled.
Although I could have bought the part from china for about 2cent, I was happy to fork over my 70 cent ;)
There must be a lot of fixable TVs going into skips across the country!

regarding the extra wires on a fan, red and black are power, yellow(i think) sends a pulse back to the mptherboard to measure fanspeed, and i cant remember the last one. you can snip the extra wires off.
