Cork - any good beer/pub suggestions?

Keg and I are heading to Cork this coming weekend.
I was hoping to get a little Craft beer brewery tour in. I contacted Franciscan Well since I thought this would be the best bet, but I haven't heard back yet and there was no info on the homepage either. We are definitely planning to go to their brewery pub though.  Does anyone know anybody or anything about little brewery tours in or around Cork?

Do you have any good pub/beer/food advices we shouldn't miss out on? We'd be happy about any suggestion

Fran Well tours are from 6.30pm Mon-Fri, not sure about Saturday. Phoning the bar might be your best bet to be honest.

Their website is a little dated nowadays, facebook or twitter would be the best way to contact them. I think the tours of the brewery are only weekdays. They're having a summer fest this weekend with summer beers,ciders and cocktails, they're also launching their new farmhouse ale this weekend, so it'll be really good this weeken. Rising sons don't have tours yet, but its a good place for watching a game on their screen and their own beers.

For food I'd recommend Elbow lane I was there at the weekend and it was amazing, with their own beers brewed in the back of the restaurant, the tbone steak is extremely good as are the ribs which are cooked on a firepit in the room. Fran welll and rising sons both have really good pizza as well. But there are lots of new food places that I could go on for hours talking about.

Just remembered the cotton ball brewery might do tours, they're a bit outside town but its on the 208 bus route so easy enough to get to.

No reservation policy, good beer selection, I had the 4 Taster tray for 9.50, Pale and Weisse is off at the moment but their Stout Lager Red and guest beer Bru Rua all put in solid performances.




They also did a strawberry and thyme posset which was topped with caramelised pilsner malt, was weird but great

You also have the friary, which is pretty much between the Fran Well and the Bierhaus. It's a small enough bar, but often have some of the 8 degree's specials on. Abbots ale house has offy downstairs and bar upstairs, with plenty of selection. Bradleys shop on North main street, has good selection of beers in it's off license. Blairs Inn is a bit of the beaten track in Cloghroe out close to Blarney, usually has some dungarvan on cask, and plenty other Irish beer.

The bierhaus is also probably my favourite bar, when it comes to selection, but the beer garden in the Fran Well is probably my favourite locaion on a sunny day, and since the have the summer festival on this weekend, probably a good shot.

Need to get into Elbow lane myself, as like the look of the food there.

Oh thanks for that - just saw Blacks just do tours during the week as well (I guess 2 people wouldn't count as a larger group)
