Hey,

Off to Krakow Friday-Sunday for a stag do.

Been a few years since I was last there and at that time was not hugely bothered about what I drank so settled for Zywiec lager and various flavoured vodkas. A subsequent stag do in Wroclaw had similar results, though I remember a LOT of White Russians being drank as well.

Can anyone tell me what the beer scene is like there these days, or offer a few suggestions, or will I be mostly focusing on imports?

Cheers (or should I say 'okrzyki'),

Not been to Krakow but I know Pinta Brewery do a lot of nice beers and are worth looking out for.

My top 3 in Krakow

OMERTA
Multi Qlti Tap Bar
Viva La Pinta

Focus only on 'local' scene:

- AleBrowar
- Pinta
- Artezan
- Doctor Brew
- Birbant
- Ninkasi
- Olimp

And there are plenty more...
From those listed above IMHO Pinta is the best.

Cheers lads. That's excellent. Looking promising :)

Err, you know okrzyki just means "cheers, shouts, exclamations". It doesn't mean "cheers! sláinte! bottoms up!" That's the problem with dictionaries!

You want to be saying: "Na zdrowie!" instead :).

And Jacob's got the right idea. Pinta and Ale Browar are great. There's probably loads of new breweries too.
Planning: DIPA, Kweik PA, Calibration Pale Ale
Putrifying: nothing
Pouring: Lovely Saison, Czech Lager, 1804 Porter
Past: Cashmere PA

Haha! Fair enough  :)

Stupid Google. Stupid believing the first answer it gives you.

Have fun man  :)
My bro and another friend were over two years ago , said it was a really nice city . they just wished they avoided the mandatory Irish bar . they were only there for a long weekend so quickly left there to find some actual Polish bars. cant say i blame them either , i mean whats the point in spending two hrs on a plane to drink in a pub you wouldnt darken the door of in your home town eh lol

making plans to head there myself at some point ,il be going for the museum and bars .cant remember the name of the place but they have armour & weapons there from winged hussars . example https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f0/9b/be/f09bbe18db3bb32c7c22488153ab86de.jpg

I paint up a lot of scale thirty years war & napoleonic wars stuff . so being able to the see actual polish gear, weapons, armour & banners would be ded handy ..... boring i know but hey you cant drink all the time right  ;)

Great tune, that's some Bodhran he was holding :P. I remember going to sessions in the late 70's early 80's in O'Donoghue's bar on Baggot st/merrion row on a Sunday afternoon. The music was ad hoc with anyone interested in a session to just bring along their instrument's and join in. The problem was the Bodhran was the easier one to learn to play hence more Bodhran players would turn up. On one Sunday afternoon session there was so many Bodhrans trying to join in that one of the better known players of a tin whistle roared out that not every tune needs a Bodhran and if they did'nt all fook off he would stick his tin whistle up someone's arse ;D. The best part was the late comer who arrived with his Bodhran and could believe his luck that no other Bodhran players turned up ;D ;D
