Shipping brews overseas

My best mate has moved to Canada and I'd like to send him a regular "care package" of bottles of home brew. Anyone here ever shipped their brews overseas before and know if it's as simple as stuffing a box with styrofoam and bringing it down to the post office?

Simple answer to that is yes but it's gonna cost way more than its worth.

Long answer involves labelling bottles as 'yeast samples in alcohol solution' to avoid problems with importing beer and crazy postage costs and the risk of broken bottles among other obstacles.

Send him a link to the NHC and a few good recipes to get him started on his own

Looked to do this once for the UK and it was too dear. also You have to be imaginative with your packaging and contents description . Sent some yeast before and it was marked as "Sweets"

Wouldn't even bother writing that on it, just prepare to be quizzed by the odd nosy postal official, say baking equipment on it or something.  To save on weight bottle in PET.
