Cider Pressing in Cork

I bumped into a lad living near Midleton who has an Apple scratter and a press.
Not sure if there's lads on here that needs this doing but he will hopefully make his way in here at some point to go through the ins and outs.

as John mentioned I have a speidel  apple mill and Vigo 12 press.   I will have it in action  in the  Midleton Community Garden Apple Juicing  day on Saturday October 3rd from 12pm if anyone wants to come along and take  a look at it.

To make cider you need an awful lot of apples. For 25L of juice to make cider you need minimum 50kg of apples which is about three sack loads. The pressing is slow also. I haven't started making cider yet as it usually October before the apples fully ripen and they do best if stored for 2 or 3 weeks. Once the juice is fermented I store it for six months to mature then bottle it.
The group juice buy looks like  a lot less work! Anyway to see more come along on Saturday October 3rd to Midleton Community Garden.
