70:30 for Stout is amazing even the 50:50 I serve cider makes a difference

Yeah, I second ch, I use it to serve stout and it's amazingly creamy.

Boc wouldn't supply me in Cork, said they don't do personal only business accounts, even when I mentioned that people get gas from them in Dublin. I found eventbars.ie for getting mixed gas and I get co2 from munster gas.

I was told by the guy running the Cork office 50 eurofor mixed gas, but you have to swap an empty for a full. And it's the old Red boc ones he uses. I'll be doing a stout soon so I'll be getting mixed gas for that. I didn't ask how much for the co2.

While we're on the subject, I have acquired a tank of mixed gas 50:50.  The tank has a female fitting, which doesn't accept the regulator I got in the group buy there recently.

Forgive my ignorance but do I need a separate mixed gas regulator or can I get a male to male converter?

auralabuse

You need a different regulator altogether. Search mixed gas regulator on adverts. Think they are about 60 quid. Don't use any adaptors because mixed gas is a higher pressure and could be dangerous through the co2 reg you have.

Míle buíochas. Could I use a welding regulator like so?:

Yep, you can, but you need the connection from the outlet to your keg. Ask the seller what size the output is, it's prob half or quarter inch. If it's say quarter, search eBay for female 1/4" bsp with barb. That will be you sorted then

Important Update!

Looks like I was wrong about BOC Ballymun able to supply pub gas.

Had a long talk with the manageer there and BOC and Sureserve have become separate entities.

BOC Industrial Gases still do industrial gases

BOC Sureserve now handle the pub gases and are not very friendly to non pubs.

He gave me a contact number to phone about this so leave it with me as this sort of attitude from big companys makes me quite Mad [well more madder than I am already]

I will be real cheaky and jump straight in by asking for a rental or refill discount for members of the NHC!

Don't watch wheeler dealers for the pole dancers!!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

They sited safety concerns to me with regard the storage and use of the gas in a home environment. I asked what they did to ensure pub compliance and they said they don't. I further asked if home brewers could just sign a disclaimer and they still refused. Just so your armed if they hit you with the same bs will. In reality they don't want to upset their very large Guinness overlords

And they've no role in ensuring anything like that anyway so it's a classic brush-off.  Personally I'd report them to the Competition Authority for operating a cartel if they refuse to sell.

For anyone reading this I've done a bit of digging and added to the thread in the members area.  However its looking to be difficult to get branded bottles filled.  BOC won't fill 3rd party cylinders and neither will the other companies.

Pending an NHC assault on the gas companies the only option for those with a branded pub bottle is to swop a like for like bottle with one of the homebar/events hire companies.

Update: I got a cylinder delivered today. €55 delivered. You have to have a cylinder to swap though.
Got it from the Brew Crew
