I got a bench capper from hbc about a month ago and I just can't get it to cap. Each time I put a cap in the "bell" and push down the handle the cap just gets stuck fast in there. I then have to take it apart to remove it. I have tried lots of different bottles so it's not that. I've also looked at vids and I'm not doing anything different. Could I have the wrong size caps?, They work perfect on my 2 handle capper so not so sure

Sometimes happens. Just give it a wiggle (the bottle)

i find it easier to put the cap on the bottle instead of in the bell.
The bell will wear down a bit with time and make removing the bottle easier.
for now just give the bottle a jiggle like pheeel says :)

+1 mine was a little stiff to start and didn't want to release but a bit of use and it was good to go.
Keep trying it will get easier.

Put a bit of Vaseline on the inside of the capping part. That will make it a lot easier to remove the bottle.

I rub a little olive oil on the inside of mine.

Are we talking the €25 capper sold by HBW and HBC? If so, I think there's a problem with a batch of cappers - specifically the bell is too small. I have an 'old' capper (~6 months) which caps with no issues from day one. I got a 'new' one (couple of months ago) for a friend and it's hopeless - extremely difficult to cap. I popped out a micrometer and, surely enough, the new bell is 1mm smaller in diameter than the old one. I reckon a batch of bells was incorrectly manufactured. HBW replaced the capper, but same problem with the new one. I've explained it to HBW several times, but they've denied there's a problem and say they've had no complaints. As of now, my friend and I are just rotating use of my old capper. Difference is night and day between the old and new - anyone who tried them side by side couldn't deny there was a problem with the newer ones.

I went and spent the money on the quality one and have never had a problem
