I was overly concerned about not wanting it spurting out when I snipped it and not concerned enough with breaking up the clump of yeast at the bottom so I ended up with half the important stuff left in the Mr Freeze wrapper.

There was no way I was leaving that in there so poured some hopefully sterile starter wort into it to wash it out

I found that I didn't need to rinse it out. Just hold it over the flask for a minute and will eventually all drop out.

Give it a massage before your open and it should just slide right out

Yeah I'll do that next time. I was afraid a massage would lead to over stimulation followed by spurting  :o

I've learned this too, thought I had mixed it well enough but there was still some left inside. Plus I need to get a sharper scissors to open the packet.

My process is now gingerly cut it from the outer packaging give a massive shake sit it in half a pint of starsan along with the open  scissors, take out shake and sterilise other side and let it settle for 2 mins. I know thats overkill but hey!
The first of the old tubes I ever used was Irish Ale and I shook the shite out of it and then cracked it, it went everywhere and I lost 3/4 of the vial :(
They are just as fiddly as the tubes but for me the shelf life and health is a massive plus.
