Replacement Guinness Tap Handles

Has anyone seen any short handles that will fit a guinness tap or an adapter to allow a standard threadded handle to be connected?

The handle on the tap i have at the moment is very tall and i'd like to attach something shorter so it will fit in my fridge.

I had a heineken tap - and for similar reasons - plus the fact it said heineken on it - I removed the handle and replaced it with a branch I cut off my silver birch in th efront garden.
Pic forthcoming... but it was easy - stripped and sanded the branch and drilled a hole in the end. For the heineken tap I had to drill a big hole and slot the wood over it - I put a piece of tape around the bit of the tap that the handle slots over so it would go on snugly. Had the option of inserting a screw from the outside too, but didnt bother.

For the guinness tap i think the handle just screws onto a threaded bar sticking out so drill your hole slightly smaller than the width of the threaded bar.

ah i thought we could attach images directly on here - Ill host it somewhere and stick it up.

nice, how did you remove the handle above the pin lock bit, did you saw it off?

JimmyM

No - just above the pin lock was a cylindrical butt for want of a better word. it was about 25-30mm in diameter and maybe 40 or 50 mm long. The original heineken tap handle slotted over this (like a slieve) and was fixed in by a small screw which went in through the outside of the handle (perpandicular to it) and threaded into the butt.

I probably made that sound overly complicated but it was very simple in reality - one of those have to be there things.

Are you havin trouble getting the guinness ahndle off? I thought they just screwed off.

I noticed the black bit twisted around the outside of the handle but i couldnt get it off and didnt really want to force it just in case something snapped. Maybe i just need to force it a bit harder.

Hi Rukkus

I think I have exactly what you looking for!

I made a short handle as a replacement for a murphys tap.
I didn't use it in the end, It needs a lttle more work like drilling hole to attach and a little more shaping with a belt sander and then a coat of oil

pm me your no. if you want a pic of it as it is now

Damo has very kindly offered to post on the handle so i'm going to try and pop that on the top of the tap.

I actually saw a guinness tap similar to the one i have but with a much shorter handle in a bar i had lunch in earlier. Was tempted to ask him could he get me one :)

Non modo......sed etiam

JimmyM

Think i know what you are talking about - the longer ones are more oval - whereas the shorter ones get slightly wider towards the top and are flat on the top... if i rem correctly.
