Kettle souring in peco boiler

Has anyone done this? Is the plastic a concern for future infections?

A good boil will kill off everything after. Let it boil for 10-15 mins and drain still hot is what I've done in the past.

One note though. Once your happy with the sourness and turn the kettle on, watch it like a hawk. I found you get a massive foam build up. My last one nearly foamed over at around 50c. Keep stiting.

Cheers for that Nigel. Did you ever have any issues with the low PH corroding the element? If its safe to drink I can't see this happening though I did read somewhere that it could be a concern?

Never noticed. Your only talking contact time of about 2 days. Even if you go for a nice tart one the ph is going to drop to about 3 in the last day. Depends on sour you want it I suppose.
