So I got one of those Young's Pressure Barrels and I brewed up an irish red ale.
I bottled half, incase this doesnt work and then i put the other half into the barrel.

Anyone else used the Youngs barrels for cask ales?

The only problem im kinda finding is the seal with the cap.
I put vaseline on the inside at the rubber seal and along the threads.
After I filled the barrel and put in my priming sugar i put the cap on and added some C02 from the bulbs, to create a blanket.

It sounded like some of the C02 was escaping either through the pressure release as it should or through a small break in the seal. I tightened the top a bit more but dont want to warp the rubber seal.

Anyway I'll see how it goes, hopefully the cask ale will be nice!

I use them like that, you will get a pretty good approximation of a cask ale.

It's normal when you use a bulb that you get some blow off straight after as you generally overpressure it with the bulbs and a little has to release.

ok cool.
yea i wasnt too sure about the amount of gas coming off after i used the bulb.

I'll give it a taste in about a week see how it is.
