Oh Crap

I finally finished rebuilding my rig... The control panel has 1 stc 1000 (temp only) and 2 pids, a Rex c100 and auberins syl2352p (ramp and soak)...
When I plug it in the Rex and stc show the same temp (.1 difference) BUT the auberins shows -343 and is flashing oral, hold, 6.. Reading and rereading manual but can't find an answer.
Has anybody got any ideas ?

My first thoughts are towards either the sensor type is not set correctly or the polarity is the wrong way around.
This instruction booklet mentions the Oral alarm which you are getting in section 9 of the last page

There's no such thing as bad beer - some just taste better than others

I didn't have that page printed 🙄🙄
I did change the sensor type alright
I'll try switching the wiring round

I know it flashed that when there is no sensor connected so check your wiring and make sure nothing is loose. Then make sure it set up for he correct sensor.

I checked it was set correctly, sn 21, then disconnected sensor and, yep, same message, I connected another identical sensor and same error...
I then connected a k type sensor, set to sn 0, and it stopped flashing and gave a better reading (not accurate tho)...
Me thinks It's pointing to bad sensors....

its the sensor and you need to calibrate could be 2 or three degrees depending on the quality of what you are measuring with, try and beg steal borrow a thermopen or other highly calibarted device or test all in ice, boiling and 60.
Rex  :(
Auberins or Sestos  :)

My Rex doesn't even do that, so I'm going to buy proper auberin ones

imark

My aliexpress rex reads 2C off but I just offset my set temperature by that and it's fine.
I couldn't get calibration to work on it but I think it's a because it's a knock off. Still though... it works well and a bit of mental arithmetic is a small price to pay for paying 20% of the price.

Some of the cheaper Rex you can't calibrate, sestos next level up you can, auberins, rolls royce, top of the pile.

Sestos are intuitive enough you just cycle through the parameters and then adjust, don't lose your instruction sheet though!

Oh Crap

Turns out the probes were dodgy...Got new ones from auberins
Got a new pid as well just to replace the rex one..BUT NOW ME HEAD IS WRECKED
The stupid thing keeps heating past set value...
Anybody got experience with these that can help me out...
It's auberins syl 2352 😠😖😵😭😱😁😄

How far beyond, did it come back?
Have you calibrated it?
Did you put it through its learning cycle?

It went 15c before I cursed it and turned it off.
In terms of calibrating it is reading same temp as 2 other probes (dial thermometer and stc 1000)
I ran it last night but it got to the set point and went beyond by a degree or 2 and it was now late so I got thick and changed something and up it went again at least 10c..
It is running again since 5:45 this evening and still has to get to sv (75 for learning purposes)
