Co2 Keg Connector

Before I start, I am aware this is quite dangerous  .. yada yada

anyways..

I have 3 Co2 tanks - a 7.5kg, a 3 kg and a 1.5kg

My problem is I empty the small one, then start using the one and once thats empty I cant really use the big one as it doesn't fit in the kegerator.

What I really would like is to, mount the big one upside down on the wall of the shed, and refill the smallest one all the time.

What I'm thinking is to basically hook the tanks together without a reg and then open the valve on the empty one, and then gently open the valve on the big one, as the big one is higher up and upside down, the liquid co2 should gently flow into the empty tank...

no ??

I seem to need one of these

with the larger connector on both sides.

Anyone tried this ? or should I get writing my last Will and testament ??

Frequent Sequence

It would be much simpler to drill a small hole in your fridge, run a line through and keep your gas and reg outside.

You can use electrical cable glands to help seal the hole (keep cold air escaping) & stop sharp edges cutting gas line. The gland tightens & seals as you tighten.

From outside

From inside

Ignore colour change, couldn't get in to photo gas line coming in behind keg.

I would have gone a cable gland size down if I was doing it again.

(Make sure you do pinhole test before drilling side to make sure you don't hit a cooling pipe; think most modern ones are now on back panel)

That looks great peter,

but my big tank is in the shed and my kegerator is in the kitchen !

Found something here..

some have attempted it in the states ...

500 psi at room temperature, what could possibly go wrog...

And the 2016 Darwin Award goes to ...

Another medal for the cabinet !

Getting all the bits to do it might be more expensive than a year or twos trip to AJ Edge.

Would it be possible to have big tank on outside wall of kitchen & drill through the wall to kegerator? Protect big tank with mini tall shed contraption against little fingers & footballs.

So, kegerator is in the kitchen. Is it possible to put the big tank behind or to the back corner side the kegerator, so it's out of the way and connected?

I've just put mine in a corner and the gas tanks are in the inside of that, so they are out of the way and safe from passer bys.

Don't paintball places fill from a bigger co2 tank?

Yup I remember ed seeing this when I was looking for 2kg co2 tanks, https://www.iedepot.ie/co2-paintball-fill-station/

I put holes for a gas line , no worries at all, but it's nice to have it all contained in the freezer out of tiny fingers way.
Anyways, it's more of an issue of refilling your own small bottle from a big bottle.

The small gas bottles are deadly, real tiny and subtle.

They have done it in the states....

No one ever dies of anything stupid over there ..
I need to be able to weight my emptys and only fill the correct weight of co2.
They do it for paint ball all the time ! ;-)
