Delivery times

This is more of an observation than complaint, but I put in an order last night, and it contains a lot of hops, I was thinking it would be shipped today and delivered Saturday like it has been in the past. But I got a text from dpd telling me my delivery would be on the 5th, so that's 5 days the hops will be out of cold storage. I've to ring dpd and ask why it's taking 5 days to get to Cork, but it brings up the question of if there was overnight delivery would you pay for it. I definitely would to avoid this again.

Well it depends on how much more expensive overnight delivery would be.

My main concern on hops is how they are stored. I'd love to see each of the HBS provide pictures and info on their hop packaging and storage.

Unfortunately it seems DPD no longer deliver at weekends,not around here anyway,which makes your observation all the more relevant.I know they used to last year but seems sometime in the last 10mths or so they just stopped,that being the case what happens to your yeast and hops while they are taking their sweet time delivering your order

To be fair and no offence meant but it was slim chance anyway ordering practically on Friday,i know because i have a habit of doing the same.

You should pay them a visit they have always been very open and happy to show me around when I visited each of them.

Some depots will deliver on a saturday if you phone and pay extra.  Friday ordeing is asking for trouble tho, my place does a couple pallets worth of orders a day with dpd and i personally would aim for no later than a wednesday morning order aiming for thursday delivery with a days scope for transportation issues.  normally a reasonably good service but theres the select few drivers and shitty depots who ruin it.

Yeah I'll definitely order by Wednesday at the latest from now on, but both deliveries showed up Monday morning.
