Hi. Ive been given a 5ft fridge freezer that someone was getting rid of and I'm gonna use it for fermentation so I will get an stc and look again on the forum for the right links to set it up. What I'm wondering is how the freezer compartment works ? Is there some way I can male the freezer work at the same rate as the fridge or do I just forget all about the freezer part as the stc will turn it on and off intermittently

The latter. Normally it's all part of the same cooling circuit,so you can't separate the functionality
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

As far as I know there's no way to disable the freezer section. Can you upload a photo?

I packed freezer part with insulation so it's not trying to cool the whole freezer section. Not sure if it's saving on cooling much but does no harm.

Can't I just feent in tge freezer section?  Won't it work just like the fridge and shut on off with stc?

Yes, but the compressor will wear out faster on account of being turned on and off more often and if you mess up your temp control,as can happen, you'll have a giant malt ice lolly and dead yeast.

Have your probe in the base with a fan and use the stc there, don't expect any functionality from the freezer box.
You can set a delay up to 10 mins on stc to preserve your  compressor
