Great,

Might be a good experiment for folks (if their mash tun can accommodate it) brew a few extra litres and have a few bottles of the base beer to compare?  I usually do 25L batches these days (circa 7% beers) but will see what the recipe looks like first.

Are we splitting the English vs Irish ale yeast?

fyodor

Oh yea, shit I forgot about the yeast

so, aiming for half to use Dry english ale yeast White labs
and the other half to use Irish ale yeast white labs

I bags Irish ale yeast

Fyodor, can you specify which dry Irish strain?  i.e. WY1084 or WLP1004.

Other lads on this as its Fyodor's barrel would we group buy Maris Otter to fit the recipe?  14 fresh yeast packs needed as well, maybe we could make starters between pairs?

Think I have Irish and English in the fridge will have a look later. Can do a few 50ml starters you can step up yourself if people are stuck.

I'm doing a peated stout with Irish ale yeast before I do this, I'll pitch onto that yeast cake then.  If anyone wants some of that yeast cake I can keep some.

No chance of picking up a lot of phenols in that cake?
