Hi Guys,
Looking to start a keggle build for BIAB to start down the ag route.

Questions:

Would an emmersion element not give you a quicker boil rate or are the not food friendly?

Where is the best place to source a stainless Steel tap, nipple etc.

That's all for now folks, thanks, but surely more to follow 😀

Oops, should have read the post below first, keg builder seems to be the man. Any opinions?

Loads of useful info on http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.ie/forum/index.php/topic,14993.15.html.

Not sure an immersion element is food safe but leaving that aside your better off going with two smaller sized 13amp rated elements as you should be able to run them off your existing wiring setup. An immersion element is going to be 5kw or higher probably meaning it would need to be run off a circuit that is rated, wired & fused to take 20+ amps. You also are very inflexible as turning it & off will cause the heat to go up and down erratically giving you less control.

Speaking from someone who installed a 5.5kw heating element I ended up just using it for heating the mash & sparge water.

standard copper cylinder elements are not food safe that I know. I had to buy some stainless ones recently as the water ate my previous ones and they were double the cost.

I bought from brewbuilder, 3kw.  had looked at the brewpi store elements,  which have a good range of wattages, but when you add in vat and delivery,  they work out expensive.

If you do buy from brewbuilder,  email them about what you need in terms of nipples etc.  I didn't and,  now and too tight to pay postage for the small value items.

Thanks guys,

Sorry for the delay coming back, I was away.

Advice taken on board😀
