Hi,
I just bought a small fruit press and want to make some cider as I have 3 trees in the garden. Trouble is I tried the other day and it would have taken me about 4 weeks to make enough apple juice to brew cider at the rate the juice was coming out.

any tips on how to prep the apples to make pressing easy?

Leann ull

been there done that did you pulp them first.... ;D

davebhoy1975

nope. i don't know the first thing about making cider

Leann ull

you typically divide them into halves or quarters and scrat them into a pulp, the homebrew shops sell a blade in a bucket you attach to a drill, then you put the pulp into a press.
At this point I apologise in advance laughing at the mental image I have of you trying to press whole apples fighting the press, jeybus you must have been cursing!

The more/better you pulp the more juice you get out of the apples
Wife says to me one day... "so do you love beer more than me?....
Naturally, I replied,...... making it or drinking it??😱😱
