beerfly

Welcome, keep an eye out for the next Kilkenny meet and come along

mladen

Thanks for warm welcoming.  :)

I still dont know what I am going to go with, probably would like to go all grain. As far as I can see biggest problem what ever I go with will be temp control for fermentation. (as it will become obvious, I tend to overthink, rather than just doing things) I am ambitious to get as close to the whole brew system as realistic as possible, in terms of control. So, the reading is on, for now, but any advice is welcome. There is a loads of stuff online, I would say even a bit to much, it is hard to find a focus.
Back to temp issue. I am reading about these heating pads and belts-dont really like the idea.  I am trying to figure out solution for creating controlled environment, like water bath cheap solution http://www.brewpi.com/

Also, would love to meet brewers around here to exchange ideas.

I have used an stc1000 and a heating belt since i started brewing with no issues and great control. I only brew ales at the moment so a heat source is only required, they are a good heat source and cheap but you need a controller.

Come down to the next Kilkenny meet,  we should be having one in the next couple of weeks, loads of lads there will be happy to answer all your questions and you can see a couple of different systems and you can see a complete brew day

mladen

That seems ok, might try with that. Any recommendation for ordering temp. controller? Heating belt? I am actually starting to think about one galon brewing, seems like process is faster and mistakes wont be so painful if it only few liters of beer.. :)

Anyone knows some store with brewing stuff on the way from Maynooth to Carlow?

The Homebrew Company is in Mountmellick so it's a small detour, but buying online is really just as handy and gives you a wider selection of shops to choose from. http://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/

Expensive.. Auld McDonalds is called. Good enough if you are stuck for campden tablets or pack of dry yeast.
Bad day brewing is better than good day working.
