Just got a 20l burco for sparge water heating.

Has anyone attempted to accurately control the temperature on such a device?    Would be handy to just set it and forget it   ..

A pump would really be the icing on the cake or give it a good regular stir avoiding stratification

Thanks dudes..     How did I miss that post!!

I had to google stratification :P :P

So I did it my own way.

Im still waiting on a thermowell which will be coming up from the bottom.

No relay.  Ignore the wire coloring. Bad form, but I ran out of brown and black and had a bit of earth wire to use up.

Is the stc rated for that high amperage? I wouldn't have thought so.

Motorbikeman

Yes you are correct..   There is a 2500w  element in the burco.  It would fry an stc1000.

What you see is a HM1230A   ,  not as catchy a name as the stc but does the same thing with a 30a relay

The burco really needs a thermowell though.  The probe is taped to the bottom with a bit of insulation shielding it.  After the power cuts the temp keep rising.     Its makes me think that this method is shite, yet its widely used on fermentation buckets.
