FFS!

So whats the implication now for non-licensed food outlets that allow you to bring a bottle of wine?

Only in Ireland

On the revenue issue:

Does that mean you can't bring in your own ciggys to smoke in the smoking area?

Similar logic would apply!!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Qs

They were worried about the quality of the alcohol? Give me a break.

If you were a paramedic / parent  / guard / local resident in the Sligo area you would agree with this decision

Whats the difference between allowing grown adults bring 6 cans to an event or selling them 6 pints in a pub? Or 10 pints in a pub for that matter?

I'd really doubt the limit of 6 cans / 500ml of spirits would be enforced and even if it was, you're removing the safety net of a bartender being able to withhold a drink to someone that's just short of having their stomach pumped.
Reading between the lines I'd imagine the crowd at this event would be pretty young. Some of them might be over 18 but I wouldn't call them adults.
I don't see this being the same as BYO Restaurants

And yeah they could just be doing the same out in a field but I think these things are exacerbated by being a mass event
