Converting a keg into a fermenter

I have a keg and I'm looking to turn it into a fermenter.
Has anyone on here done this? Any pointers you can give me?
I'm thinking I'll keep it nice and simple. My fermenter now is just a bucket with a tap of in the side.
Is it best to just do the same with the keg? Or is there anything better I could be now that I have a blank canvas?
Cheers.

Corny keg? You can use it as a fermenter straight away but you need to leave enough head space. If you close the lid and allow pressure to build up it'll get messy. You can leave the release valve open to allow gas escape. I'm going to start using a spunding valve to set the pressure in kegs.

You might want to take the dip tube out if you're not going to use the keg for serving anymore and you'll need a syphon if you're used to using the tap on the side of your bucket

It's not a corny keg, just the usual 50L kind.

What type is it?  Sankey D, U, G, or S?  You need to release pressure firstly, (pointing away from you) to make working with it safe.  Then you need to get it open and remove the spear/valve assembly. There's videos on Youtube for how to do this but it can be tricky.

I converted a keg to fermentor.

I used a corny keg lid and cut a hole in the sanke keg.
I have a thermowell in the corny keg lid and an airlock, works perfect, its my favorite fermentor.

I made a template fromt the corny lid, transferred it to the keg and cut it to size.
Perfect seal every time, plus I can get my arm in to give the keg a gold clean.
