Would it be worth getting a NHBC amazon associate account? Bring some free money into the coffers?

Free money? How does that work?
I'll give you my bank details for the first plausible answer :o

Padraic

Amazon run an affiliate program, whereby if you link something on amazon and a person hits the link and buys from Amazon you get paid some money by amazon (like a commission). (It says up to 10%)

I like the idea of such monotising but feel that it needs to be linked to content. E.G. if someone were to write a book review and then link to amazon in this way.

I don't like the idea of having amazon adverts plastered all over our site... But as links relevant to content I would be happy with.

What are other's views on this?

Eoin

If it can contribute to the site then I'd be all for it, as long as it's not too intrusive, that said I might be running an ad-blocker at any given time and I have never once bought stuff from a banner link on any site.

Blackbrew

Not ads just one little link on the site. I use the basic brewing radio link when I remember check out there site and you will see the link on the main page on the right.

As a lot of us I'm sure buy books from Amazon then if there was link on NHB to Amazon that I could click on, order books (or stuff - but you know me I never order stuff ) and I'd get the books and NHV got some money, I'd be all up for it!

As long as its unobtrusive I don't think its a problem.

I would ensure that any amazon purchases were done through here if there was a link and the prices were identical.

Well I just bought a Kindle Fire HD so that would have been a nice kickback at 10% (if that's what you really get) probably more than a years membership fee anyway.

@tube Any update on this? would rather have Amazon pay my membership fees for me  ;D

Not my reading of the information.... but i have been known to be wrong before

https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/gp/associates/join/compensation.html?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_i=assoc_join_menu&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=&pf_rd_r=&pf_rd_s=assoc-right-1&pf_rd_t=501&ref_=amb_link_83440073_9

Think you get Min 4% but 5% for a Kindle. Don't know where the 10% split came from in your info? You only get a % of the sale price (not the delivery cost or VAT). but still would be around £10 in the NHBC coffers
