Roles within the Club

We have had a couple of weeks on the executive roles BUT what do the roles entail? We need to put some flesh on these bones and see how the organisation will run. The following ideas have been proposed:

The organisation is community based with members having their say. Having executive roles does not stop others from taking a lead but more that the members have a go to person with their idea. The roles help to facilitate the club and members.

A person in an executive position is no more important than a paid up member. We all have equal responsibility to the club...after all it is a community for members.

All elected roles are equal in rank. As ever policy is decided by the organisation. No-one has a veto. If
you have an idea, shout, and as a team we drive it. No single person decides policy and no single person is responsible for the NHC, as no-one is on a salary. We're all volunteers!

We all have equal responsibility towards the club, as in if you see something wrong, fix it!

President - Figurehead role, The pretty face of the club.
Vice President - Really a second president (a lazy pres).

Brewery Liaison - Creating and maintaining open channels between the amateurs and the professionals. Helping to put clubs in touch with breweries for tours etc.

Education Bossman - Organising training and exams (tasting, brewing, whatever the members would like to see). Keeping the wiki updated.

Publishing Bossman - Co-ordinating Wordpress articles, the publishing team, and possibly the newsletter.  Ensuring the main site is kept up to date with interesting, educational, news worthy articles.

Competitions coordinator - National level competitions/ support for local club competitions if needed.

Club Co-ordinator -Point of contact for local clubs. Encouraging  new club growth..

Membership Co-ordinator - Primarily printing membership cards/ monitoring membership. The rest should be pretty much electronic.

Sponsors/fund raising/PRO - coordinating sponsors for the club....needs fleshing out

Treasury - Pretty much as is..holding the purse strings.

There is a possibility the Executive would have to vote on something,
but hopefully this will be avoided and the wider membership will be
called to vote instead.

Again these are the ramblings of a madman so if you want to see something different fire it in. The volunteering should continue over here http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1364494879/75

I have been talking to Brian - we think its a good idea to have someone as a vice treasurer if you like (not sure the name)

Just looks good to have two people on accounts.

Id have no probs putting myself forward for apprentice treasurer role as well as whatever IT stuff comes my way.

I think treasurer of vice would be a very interesting position (#113 in Kama Sutra) and would help pay off the porn site debts!!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

I vote for me as treasurer of vice, (I have drank 10 pints of O'HARA'S IPA and converted 3 new members so when I call to this kip again I get something I want to drink).  ;)

Forgive us our Hangovers as we forgive those who hangover against us

Padraic

QuotePadraic was reluctantly doing it, as he does it in his day job too.

By doing it, Shane means doing close to nothing!

And by reluctantly he definitely means reluctantly!

@ Brian - I'm snowed under at work/life at the moment but should be able to find a few minutes to get through the last of the excel accounting package!
