Kev was kind enough to gas up one of kegged brews last week to keep it fresh. (the corny isnt hooked up to gas yet as my keggerator kit wont be here until 1st week of April)

The brew is primed with dextrose. Is it normal for the keg to be crying a big sticky tear around the lid seal? When I pull the safety valve nothing comes out. Is this all normal/okay?

Just paranoid as I had to ditch 19 litres of oatmeal stout the other day.
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

That probably means that you have a leak, obviously probably out of the lid. They can be very finicky.
Sometimes it needs a really good squirt of gas to seal the lid, or somethimes you need to wiggle the lid to get a good seal, and somethimes you may need to replace the oring.
I've recently bought softer lid orings from can direct as they give a better seal, and it's helped me with a few of my problem corneys.

You reckon once Ive the gas on it with the regulator they'll seal up tight?

Yep +1 on that (edit: my +1 is for Billy's comments - ).
Might help if ya gave it a rub with some food grade vaseline type stuff.
Or after you give it a squirt spray lid edges with something that will bubble if air is coming out.

Do the same with the posts in case the lid is a red haring.

Possibly but not definitely, and if there is a leak in the lid, and you leave the gas connected and turned on, you could lose your gas via the leak, so better to get to the bottom of the issue before you connect it up full time. Try the keg lube, give it a good squirt, then disconnect it and check again the next day to see if it is holding pressure. Best of luck with it, as corneys can be a pain at times, but it's great to be pouring draft at home, especially when a few mates come round!

Will do. Can you post a link for those softer o rings you bought? Thanks:)

No worries mate, when ever suits!

Sometimes just turning the lid through 180 degrees works.

Simple test:

Put two litres of water in corny. Fit lid. Squirt in some gas.

Hold corny upside down and see what happens.

If leaking add more pressure and see if that does the trick
