I am worried that we may not get enough of the speciality malts so we need to get a recipe sorted, and get the specials ordered.

After all there may well be 64 people trying to order a kilo of Brown, or 0.5 kgs of roasted barley!!

Its already happening with the hops. EKG Leaf out of stock on HBC and HBW. They were in stock last night on HBC...

Folks,

If anyone fancies making a contribution to the South Dublin Brewers barrel, we could use another few participants.

The barrel will be sited in Blackrock, and at the moment we're looking at an Imperial Porter type recipe devised by Rossa, which includes lots of amber, brown and black malts.

As we have 8 already any one else north side fancy getting involved?

As its a Rossa Recipe it will probably win!

They may also welcome a financial stake as a buy in if you feel your experience/kit is not up to it. They may also have a co-op brew day!

Quick one for you all, my offer of storing the barrel stands, but I'm away on holidays from the 18th May to 25th May.  I was thinking that this will be around the time we should have beer ready to put into the barrel.  Is this going to be a problem?

Counting from next week you will return in week 6 of the project.
I would say that's perfect.

We still have to get the cask ( next Tuesday , so lets call next week Week1 ) order ingredients and start brewing.

Then if we start brewing at weekend of week 1 then we can say 2 weeks primary and three in secondary will be spot on! These are big beers!

I will store the cask until then - No problemo - It will be luuurved and admired!!

All,

The publishing team are currently look at the best ways of documenting the NHC's fantastic "Barrel Project". We've decided to create and publish a series of articles on the project over the next 6 months or so.

The series will cover technical aspects of aging beer in barrels, purchase and delivery of the said items as well as a report from each individual club barrel at various stages of the process.

To achieve this aim, we will need a nominated representative from each barrel project who is willing to supply us with the necessary information like recipe, barrel siting, filling, tasting notes, competition success etc. Photos would be great too, if you have any. If you're interested in being your project's rep, can you attach your name to the thread below?
