Black IPA recipe suggestions

Guys,
Father's Day on Sunday so traditionally I get a few hours to myself for brewing.
Has anyone got a good Black IPA recipe?  It's more the grain bill I'm looking for.
I have some carafa special III which I believe is the right thing to use for colour.  How much should I add?

3l/kg 26l mash. 
30l gathered. 3/4 l lost due to trub. collected 23/22l after boil.

Against the grain have sierra nevada blindfold black ipa on draught at the mo and its excellent

Yup, brewed it on Sunday.  Had a disaster with the hop filter (again!) so ended up having to dump from the boiler into the fermenter through a sieve.  Lucky it's black so wont notice the flippin chill haze so much.

I'd say apollo and citra would be lovely. I always cold steep special 2 for by black IPA's. soak overnight and add to boil.

Cold steeping is probably a good idea alright.  I found the de-husked carafa III to be very bitty, so was impossible to keep it out of the boiler when transfering from mash tun, even with a load of recirculation.

I'm hopeful about the apollo and citra though.  Will proably dry hop with another 20g of each.

Cheers for posting that Colin. Hopefully you'll be bringing this one to an NCB meet :). I like the way the ABV isn't too high.

Lads, just wondering, if I was to brew an IPA would I be able to turn half of it into a black IPA by transferring it to a secondary and adding new (boiled)wort from roasted malts?

  Had a disaster with the hop filter (again!) so ended up having to dump from the boiler into the fermenter through a sieve. 

I had them too for long enough, so when i got sick of them i got a nylon bag and and use that for Hop addtions, which is great for tiding up to. I then got a bigger nylon bag for my Mash tun which means no more scooping out grain and my effichency went up 10pts

How are you filtering at the moment?
Got one of these bad boys from the US from HB's recommendation and haven't looked back even though my nylon hopper bag was great and I still use it for something else. It was a pain trying to fit it inside my coil if I had a big hop loading.

Ive done this but it went in on transfer from BK to carboy.  Steep 300g of carafa special 3 in hop bag or similar in 3 litres of 60c water for half hour. Take the grain bag out & boil for as long as you like (min 15 mins) then chill. Add to the fermentor with your regular IPA. I reduced my 3 litres down to 1 litre over an hour boil. It added 1 gravity point compared with the other half of the batch with no carafa.

(300g is 4.5% of my 1.077 OG grain bill)
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.
