I paid more than twice that for mine a little over a year ago. I'd be lost without it. I might get one as a spare.

Do these things have to be calibrated ?

Yeah sometimes. I just put in a drop of water and calibrate to zero. Takes 5 seconds.

If you go into your mans shop he sells them at a buy it now price also-they have scores of different refract. I mistakingly bid only to see the buy it now DOH (they're letting me retract the bid though)
