Blacks Kinsale Craft Brewery are bringing a hop Randall to our stand at the Irish Craft Beer Fest in the RDS 5th-8th Sept. http://www.dogfish.com/company/tangents/randall-the-enamel-animal.htm

This means that we will offer both the original award winning Kinsale Pale Ale and a special version that is hopped up through whole cone hops directly before reaching your glass. Citra will be a stable as the beer is designed for and around this hop, but we thought it would be fun to rotate a few other varieties across the festival to try the effect of different hops. So here's your chance to vote on which hops you would most like to try in our Randall.

If there is a specific hop that is not in the poll add it to the thread and we can update the poll (if we can source that hop in time)

How much hops does it take/how many pints can you pull through it before needing to replenish?

I think about 60-70 grams per charge and I would say once the flavour effects start to drop off or fall below a level that we want- tbh we will probably change it sooner as we want to offer a few types of hops each day so visitors to the festival can try a few versions if they so wish.

Cool. I'm sure if you publish the times certain hops are going on you'll get a good flood of people up to your bar. Certainly looking forward to it myself.

Hop Bomb

Have ye bought this already? The blichmann hop rocket is cheaper & is stainless + can hold the same amount of leaf hops. You cant see the hops though so its not as cool looking.
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

Watching the beer and hops mix is half the fun.

The Randall also has a "de-foaming" chamber so it's easier to pour pints through it. The blichmann looks good as hop rocket though.

If the B&C's Randall is delivered by then I might ask to borrow it. Could hook it up and try 2 different hops side by side.

Edit: Can we go crazy at some stage and mix a few varieties?

Seriously? Is it going to be a permanent fixture??

Just curious... a lot of people say that young hops give a 'grassy' taste. How does this system deliver a freshy hoppy taste without it being grassy?
