What are your preferred type of hops?
I drive way to fast to worry about cholesterol

Shane Phelan

I like the American varieties.

American, without a doubt. The more the better.

And I prefer the "old-fashioned" American varieties, rather than the hipster (and ridiculously expensive) varieties. You can't go wrong with Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, Columbus. Though I'm also rather fond of Citra, I have to say.

The C hops are definitely my favourites, but I have a soft spot for Nelson Sauvin and Bramling Cross.

I think the Brewdog beers that use Nelson are fantastic, but I didn't get good results with the beers I used them in (it was my very early days and I used them in a couple of kit hacks - badly). Definitely want to experiment with them more. Same goes for the Bramling X - the two beers I've had them in (Tube's medal winner and Rossa's session pale ale) were superb. I love that blackcurrant flavour they give.

Amarillo is a great hop, but I think it has to be paired sensitively. For my palate at least... It's so fruity that I like to pair it with something more dank and resiny, like Columbus or Chinook. Then the two hop varieties really spark off each other.

Summit and Northern Brewer are my favorite multi-purpose hops - Summit in pale ales and ipas, northern brewer in english ales - I love Centennial and Cascade too but I'm more into malty beers with low hop character
Give a man a beer, waste an hour. Teach a man to brew, and waste a lifetime!

I love my fuggles, but SWMBO says it smells like 'old man fart'...

Have a soft spot for cascade because it was the first hop I was aware of after having a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and googling it.

Citra and mosaic are 2 favourites at the minute though.

Jacob

Nelson, Cascade, Amarillo. That's my top 3 :)

Hop Bomb

For IPAs im with Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic, Warrior, & the darker beers with Willamette, Fuggles, Northern Brewer, Goldings. I havent touched the noble hops yet so Im sure thats a whole other world for me to explore in the future.
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

Leaf hops over pellets any day.

Taf

Fruity ones, regardless where they are from, but a big fan of the American C's and various ones from NZ.
