Irishman's Cutting - Hops question

I learned about the Irishman's cutting technique from a Welsh fella from Malahide that ye might know, and decided to give it a go with my hop plant earlier in the year.  When cutting the extra shoots from the plant, I couldn't bear to dump them, so I bent them into a U shape and planted them in pots of compost and below are the results (taken a few weeks ago).  The lighter green leaves are secondary growth.
Does anyone know if I will get a rhizome out of these pots now?
I also planted a couple of shoots directly into pots, but they didn't make it.

Strawberry plants will do the same thing with their runners, a piece of wire bent in a U shape and forced over shoot to keep in contact with the soil or compost.

You'll get a whole plant!
That's what I was hoping for.  Presumably they'll die off in the coming weeks and re-sprout in spring.
It seems like a good way to swap plants.

I tried the same, just to see. Had about 60-70% success rate, and now I'm having to consider culling some plants. I don't need 8 Nugget, or 8 First Gold, 3 WGV...

If anyone is keen to get rid of unwanted hop plants, I am out of the goodness of my heart willing and eager to adopt. I promise to give them all the love and attention they need to help make a cracking pint ;)

Patience Billy!
Are you the sort of lad that pitches yeast and expects a busy airlock straight away?!  ::)

No, pretty patient with my brews in general.

As for the hops I am only seriously thinking Jan/Feb of looking for plants.

2 target hop plants free to a good home.  The mammy plant is doing well enough that I don't need any more.  If you're passing by Drogheda anytime, you're welcome to one BrewBilly.

I'd love a first gold though.  It's one of my favourites.  Is it growing well for you?

Thanks ColMack

Its a bit far for me at the moment for a unplanned trip. If I am heading south in the next couple weeks I'll give you a shout if that's ok.

Cheers
Andy

One better than the other**, but the "Irishman's Cuttings" are doing very well. Your name's on a pot.

** Edit: sorry, that's ambiguous. They're a fantastic hop, and both are doing better than expected, but one's doing better better.
