I'll start  :)

1. Garry - 8 no - 20 bottle type

I've a question before I put an order in.
The smaller 9.5in crates appear to fit less on the pallet than the 12in crates and yet can hold more bottles. I'm confused.
Can someone point out the obvious answer for me.
Thanks.

I think the 9in and 12in dimensions refer to the crate height. So the 20 bottle crate would be bigger in length and breadth but smaller in height.  I think the 12 bottle crate (12in) is more suitable for wine bottles but would fit beer bottles too. They're just a little taller than required.

@ Ciderhead, do you have exact dimensions for these?

@Lars, if you want to make your own crates have a look at this on the wiki.

It gets boring after you've made 6 of them and if you don't have the materials lying around they end up more expensive than the plastic ones :(

@Ciderhead
I'd also like some dimensions please. Most of my 500ml bottles are around 9.5in tall and I'm concerned they won't fit into the 9.5in crate and stack on top of each other.

Not a clue jc are you organising this one?
I will pm you the details and you can progress if you confirm same.

I can help/ organise this one if you like... Never been apart of a group buy yet so not sure whats really involved but I have the space at home for this and assume its collect the money, place order, take delivery and arrange the collections?

How did you figure out the costs and number of crates per pallet? If you have the dimensions of a pallet that I would be great to post here. I can help out and if necessary do this one of nobody else does it.

If you have just   thumbsucked this then no worries I will do a little leg work myself.

Thanks,

Moi? Of course I'm willing to offer my services. Although I will add I have never been part of a group buy, let alone organise one. I might take a back seat on this one and learn the ropes that way. I have ample room to store crates in my shed in Drumcondra if needs be.

Found the b following catalog location from English pay off the German bottle crate company.

http://www.auer-shop.co.uk/pdf/auer-katalog_en_eur.pdf

Prices are listed but the information on the specs of the crates is not shown. I emailed them along them for a detailed spec of the crates including dimensions of the pallets they use for shipment.

Will update the thread if and when I get a reply or find more info.

Are you aware of anyone in this market with a size 20 Crate I could have a look at?

Hi Ciderhead

Thanks for that I banged a quick mail  to Germany manufacturer with the English supplier . I found a catalog at http://www.auer-shop.co.uk/pdf/auer-katalog_en_eur.pdf but it had no specification info about the crates in terms of dimensiona or bottles sizes it will take. Will update if I get some more info

Don't mind running with this if others are slow to come forward.  I agree you should not get yourself involved in this as you have too much going on.  Others need to come forward and help with logistics.
