Have just PM 4 of our regulars ( Nc, Cb, P9, Cr ) about this.

Just in case please bring paper and pens as well.

Ok, will print them then. Which version would we prefer? That one with 'check boxes' or with space for some notes?

Will_D

What about the generic one here:
http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,3948.0.html

It has space for 7 beers and so would only need 1 sheet per person attending!

Maybe a few spares?

Was thinking about official BJCP ones but generic will do the trick as well.
Going to print 10 of those, should be enough for tonight :)

ColmR

How do last night go? Was there a winner?

nigel_c

Will_D

Will do the write-up in morning! Today was all about cider (from 10 am till 8 pm)

Good night alright, and a great standard as usual.
I have a couple of suggestions for future comps.
We should have a laptop on hand to collate the scores (as capital brewers did I think).  Would make things more transparent and speed up the additions.

Also in order to maintain impartiality, the person who's beer is being judged, their score should not be included in the total.
Likewise the brewer should not be allowed to give a 1,2,3 preference to their own beer in the event of a tie break.
This would all be done by the steward.
Lets face it, most of us recognise the beer we brew when we taste it, so it can never be considered blind/impartial tasting unless the brewers own score is disregarded.

I don't think this would have made much difference to the result on Wednesday, but it would make things more fair.

Thoughts?

Jacob

Sorry lads but I have to resign from entering my beer into competition finals.
Run out of citra that was used to "randall" beer you had in OldB last time.
Also, dry hoped rest with Amarillo in the cornie so don't even have 'regular' version :(

So if Jacob is out whop was next in line?

Will_D

As James withdrew from 3rd place as his Hefe was over the 4%, the next in line was Jacob with his "non-randelled" beer. Jacobe do you want to enter this as it was very good?

The thing is that I dry hop that beer few days ago, so technically it's a different beer now.

Sent from my engineering tricorder.

I suppose to keep things fair your beer is technically different and fresher than the other entries and might be at more of an advantage than before. Fair play for telling us but I think for consistency  it would be more fair to leave you out. :'(

Will_D

Ok, So have talked to jacob and he has withdrawn.

Therefore the next beer in oreder was Colins

@Colin: Do you have some to enter? If you can get it to me today I can drop it into Farringtons tomorrow
